This beautifully carved Tiki Poupou wall panel is representative of the side wall panels found in Maori meeting houses around New Zealand.  Poupou normally are wood carvings of ancestors, creating a sense of belonging for the members of that tribe.

The poupou measures 19 1/2" (49.5cm) long and features traditional paua shell ( abalone) eyes.
