The Cabbage Tree ( Ti Kouka) is found in open spaces, wetlands, and scrublands of both the North and South Island. Maori used Ti Kouka as a food and as a fibre for weaving. The Silver Fern Frond is a symbol of new growth, new life, and the beginning of something new. The Silver Fern is also a popular New Zealand emblem, incorporated into the uniform of our sports teams. The Nikau Palm is found mostly in coastal areas and the warmer inland forests of the North Island. Traditionally parts of the palm were used for medicine and food, as well as for thatching. These indoor-outdoor ceramic tiles measure approximately 5" (12.5cm) square. They are ready to hang, or to incorporate into a tiled or mosaiced area. Wonderful hung in a row vertically or horizontally, on your wall, beside the front door, in your office, wherever they make the most impact. The green glaze against the natural unglazed sections makes these tiles really stand out. The tiles come beautifully arranged in a presentation box, ready to give as a gift or for you to take home. |
