David Taylor Hei Tiki Maori Bone Pendant
David Taylor is a local Maori bone carver highly regarded for his artistic skill and workmanship.
Carved for you is this Hei Tiki bone pendant, the Maori image of man, the most popular of all Maori carvings.
The Tiki is considered to be a good luck charm, and is the piece most likely to be handed down from one generation to the next. As the bone pendant takes on the oils from the skin of its wearer, so does the essence of that person get handed down as well.
This beautiful Maori Hei Tiki pendant measures approximately 80mm x 45mm (3 1/4" x 1 3/4") and rests on an adjustable muka ( flax) cord. It's eyes are decorated as usual with New Zealand paua shell.
