This Maori lithograph print by Douglas Ferrier depicts the Maori maiden Hinemoa.

Early European visitors marveled at the beauty of the Maori women.  One such woman was Hinemoa.  With her long black hair cascading over her shoulders , feathers from the huia, soft olive-brown complexion, and dignified moko on her lips and chin.  More intriguing than her obvious outer beauty was her inner beauty – her peacefulness and contentment.
