Kawakawa ( Maori Bush Basil) was traditionally taken either internally or externally for its anti-oxidant properties.  Kawakawa can be used as a tonic, or rub on meat, veges, fish, or add to sauces and marinades.

Horopito (Maori Pepper) was used by the Maori to treat external fungal infections and internal gastric illnesses.  The leaves have a hot, peppery taste when chewed.  You can use Horopito as a seasoning, as an infusion for olive oil, a rub for meat, fish and vegetables, or add to sauces and marinades.
