Edmonds Classics Cookbook
New Zealanders Favourite Recipes
Hodder Moa, 2007, hardcover, spiralbound, 152pp

In January 2005, Edmonds asked New Zealanders: "What is your favourite Edmonds recipe?"

The response was overwhelming; almost everyone had not only a favourite but also strong memories associated with Edmonds recipes and the Edmonds Cookery Book.  The cookbook was like a favourite aunt in many families - thoroughly reliable, always helpful and regarded with great affection.

The most popular Edmonds recipes have been collected in Edmonds Classics.

Many people will be glad to find old favourits, long since removed from the Edmonds Cookery Book, reappearing in the Edmonds Classics Cook Book.  Now cooks can once again enjoy Marshmallow Shortcake, Coconut Crispettes, Louise Cake, Mock Whitebait Patties, Spanish Cream, Carrot Plum Pudding, and many more of the old classics.

This collection will be sure to inspire a new generation of cooks to continue making the recipes that have delighted so many generations of New Zealanders.

And for those who don't know the Edmonds history, read on:

The Edmonds Cookery Book is the biggest selling cook book in New Zealand history, with a 99-year history of popularity and success.  It's quite amazing!

It all started in the South Island of New Zealand, last century, when Thomas J Edmonds developed his own baking powder in response to the dissatisfaction of customers for the variety available at the time.  His Edmonds "Sure-to-Rise" Baking Powder was an instant success, and the cook book made its first appearance in 1908.

As Edmonds expanded their range of products the cook book came even more popular.  It became a standard gift when couples got married, and in latter years when young people went flatting.

All the recipes have been tried and tested for almost a century, and more have been added over the years.  You still find the Kiwi classics, like Anzac Biscuits, Pavlova and Golden Syrup pudding, so it is a marvellous cookbook for Kiwis to take overseas.
