This greenstone pendant is fashioned in the same shape as the pre-European greenstone mere ( club).
Greenstone is an incredibly hard stone, which is why, during Maori war years, the stone was used to make Mere ( clubs). A blow from a Mere could split the opponents head open.
Nowadays one only sees Mere in museums, but you can also wear this smaller version ( 2 1/8" long) around your neck.
Spiritually, the mere pendant represents the facing and overcoming of difficulties. A great gift for someone facing challenges in their life, to give them strength.
