Maori Greenstone Adze - Toki Pou Tangata
This piece is a beautiful example of the Maori Greenstone Adze, or Toki Pou Tangata. The Maori Adze was primarily used as a large chisel, but was also used in war.
This ceremonial Maori adze has its handle made from a hard native timber, the Matai. The adze piece itself is a beautiful slice of New Zealand greenstone, Pounamu.
The Adze comes to you on the display stand shown. It measures approximately 33cm (13") long and 24cm ( 9 1/2") tall on its stand.
This is a fabulous piece of New Zealand carving, not to mention the beauty of natural greenstone. It will be a feature piece in your Maori collection.
