This Maori Boys Kapa Haka costume is a delightful and inexpensive way of dressing up for a Kapa Haka event.  The costume accurately replicates that worn by adults to sing, dance, and do the haka, without the expense of the intricate woven bands and flax piupius.

This outfit is perfect for Nation Days and for young kapa haka groups, especially primary school.

The Maori Boys Kapa Haka costume is sized:
Small ( age 2-4)
Medium (age 4-6)
Large (age 6-8)
XL (age 10-12) - up to 29" (73.5cm) waist
2XL ( age 14-20/ Small Mens) - fits up to a 33" (84cm) waist and is 44cm long.
Mens:
2XL (Small Mens, as above) - fits up to a 33" (84cm) waist and is approx 44cm long.
3XL - fits up to a 38" (96cm) waist and is 44cm (17 1/4") long.
4XL - fits up to 39 1/2" (100cm) waist and is 45cm (17 3/4") long.
The set includes an adjustable headband, adjustable woven waist band (tatua), and the mock piupiu skirt, which is cotton knit strips on an adjustable black elastic band.  ( The black shorts worn underneath are not included).

The total effect is stunning.

The costume design was derived from the costume worn by the Otatara Cultural Club of Taradale, New Zealand.  The design depicts New Zealand national bird, the Kiwi, which is surrounded by the Niho-Taniwha pattern ( dragons teeth) and the Three Baskets of Knowledge.  This design was the work of three people, namely Ellen Coulter, Ngaupoko Batt, and Baden Batt.  Only Baden is still alive, and he gives his unreserved consent to the costume and the Maori motifs used on them.

Note to schools:
As these costumes are always in high demand, we cannot afford to have any out on approval.  If you would like a sample, please order and pay for the costume(s) you require. Should you decide they are not what you require, we are very happy to receive the costume back (in original condition) for a full refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping).  Many schools pay by credit card so the transaction is easy to do, and a refund is easy too.  Having said that, to date we haven't had a school decide against the costume once they see it.  :-)
