Maori Kotiate - Notched Club - Charm
The Maori Kotiate was used in hand-to-hand combat as a thrusting club.
The notches were used to wrench a weapon from an opponent's hands. The Kotiate was generally carved from wood or greenstone.
This lovely example of a kotiate, made into a charm, is made from Sterling Silver and measures approximately 7/8" (2.2cm) long.
