These beautiful medium size Flax Kete Baskets are made by a lovely Maori lady in Auckland, New Zealand. 

The kete have so many uses.  These medium size bags are ideal for:

Kete baskets have been made by Maori women for a very long time, and were originally used for the collection of vegetables, kaimoana ( seafood) and other items.  Nowadays, kete baskets and backpacks are common, both as a beautiful and a useful bag.

Being handmade, the size of these small kete will vary a bit.  On average they are approximately 6 1/4" (13cm) tall (excluding the handle) and 10" (25cm) long.  They are woven so they have a flat bottom. Which is lovely when you are using it as a handbag - you can put it down on the table or floor, and it doesn't fall over and spill its contents!
