This Maori print of warriors with tewhatewha performing a haka, is called Haka Peruperu.  It was created by Douglas Ferris.

Early settlers to New Zealand often described as "terrifying" the visage of experiencing the Maori haka (posture dance).  But therein lies its purpose.

Imagine the sight of an Ope (war party) united in purpose and fierce in determination.  A quivering mass of toa (warriors) stirred up into a frenzied stupor for pakanga (war).  With wide eyes (pukana) and wild grimaces, edged on by the encitings of a war chief, these haka peruperu (war dances with weapons, in this case the tewhatewha) were a physical, mental and spiritual exercise, rhythmically timed and perfectly choreographed, and were used to raise a warrior's preparedness for war.

This fabulous drawing is printed on good quality textured card and would look excellent framed.  The print measures 17 1/2" (44cm) x 12 3/8" (31.5cm).  It comes with a descriptive page.
