This beautiful Maori Wood Carving Necklace features the Maori Manaia design.

Beautifully cut from Rimu, a honey coloured native New Zealand timber, the wood necklace is cut in a Manaia shape and highlighted with pieces of Paua shell (abalone). 

The Maori Manaia design carries a spiritual meaning.  The Manaia represents the Maori spiritual guardian, a carrier of supernatural powers.  The Manaia acts as a provider and protector of man, over sky, earth and sea. So it makes a wonderful gift for those who feel the need for a guardian spirit, and is perfect for both men and women.

The Rimu Manaia itself is approximately 2 3/4" (7cm) in diameter, and rests on a traditional black, adjustable cord of about 25" (64cm) length.
