This stunning Maori Adze (Toki) Pendant combines the beauty of native New Zealand Swamp Kauri and Paua Shell, finished with fabulous cord lashing at the top.

Swamp Kauri has come about from ancient Kauri trees being felled and falling into swampland, where the wood is preserved by the mud.  The mud gives a darker colour but you can still see the beautiful grain of the Kauri tree. The bottom edge of the Adze is finished off with a magnificent piece of New Zealand Paua Shell.  Around the top of the Toki, superb traditional Maori lashing completes the pendant.

Maori designs carry a spiritual meaning as well.  In the case of the Toki, which was most often seen worn by Maori elders, the toki is a sign of power, wisdom and authority.

The Swamp Kauri and Paua Shell Toki Pendant measures approximately 2 1/4" long and hangs from an adjustable ( sliding knot) cord.  It comes to you on a descriptive card, so you can always remember its spiritual meaning.
