No Good Calling for Mum
New Zealand Sailing DVD
No Latitude for Error & No Good Calling for Mum combines two epic tales of sailing adventure on one DVD.
In No Latitude for Error, watch the unfolding of Sir Peter Blake's exciting Round the World race. The rules are simple. Start whenever you like, round the main Capes to port with no motors, no assistance and no stopping. And the yacht? No restrictions. Anything goes. Until the Jules Verne Trophy, nobody could be certain that 80 days around the world by sail was possible.
To achieve the feat in a world record time of 74 days, 22 hours and 17 minutes, Peter Blake sailed ENZA New Zealand, the world's largest racing catamaran to cross the finish line two days ahead of the French trimaran to take the Jules Verne Trophy.
New Zealanders still mourn the loss of Peter Blake, and this DVD is a wonderful tribute to an exceptional man.
In No Good Calling For Mum, view another exceptional New Zealand sailor, Grant Dalton. Before they set out on the Southern Ocean leg of the 1993/4 Whitbread, the crew of New Zealand Endeavour agreed to participate in a unique experiment. They would keep written and taped diaries of their most private thoughts and feelings, their fears and frustrations. Relive the race through their eyes. An intensely personal record of what it means to race the Southern Ocean.
