Yes this Pekapeka is a one-off design from David Taylor. Once it is purchased, that design won't be carved again.
David Taylor is a fabulous Maori Bone Carver from the Shopenzed.com region of Whangarei. He carves beautiful designs embodying his Maori spirit.
This carving is called Pekapeka. Pekapeka is the Maori name for the native bat, New Zealand's only native land mammal. Pekapeka are traditionally carved in a symmetrical design, comprising two heads emanating from one body.
The Pekapeka carving is approximately 80mm x40mm (3 1/4" x 1 5/8"), hangs from a synthetic plaited, adjustable cord ( traditional muka deteriorates too quickly, and we don't want you to lose this unique carving), and is made from tea-stained cow bone.
Proudly designed and made made right here in New Zealand.
