This one-off David Taylor Bone Necklace is unique - he will not carve another bone carving exactly the same. So grab it while you can!
This intricately carved Bone Necklace represents the Maori God of the Wind - Tawhirimatea.
In Maori mythology, Tawhirimatea is the son of Papatuanuku ( Earth Mother) and Ranginui (Sky Father). Tawhirimatea's brothers separated Papatuanuku and Ranginui so that light could come into the world. Tawhirimatea was not happy about this, so rose up into the sky to be with his father. There he arranged for his children ( the four winds and the clouds) to punish his brothers with fierce winds and storms, causing flooding and flattening of trees on earth.
Tawhirimatea continues to live in the sky with his father, bringing mist and rain and wind, and sometimes bringing angry storms and cyclones.
David Taylor's Tawhirimatea Bone Necklace measures approximately 90mm x40mm ( 3 1/2" x 1 1/2") and hangs from an adjustable, plaited synthetic cord ( to keep it safe around your neck).
Proudly designed and carved in New Zealand by David Taylor.
