This exquisite Rimu and Paua Cracker-and-Dip platter will be a talking point at all your parties.

Rimu ( pronounced Ree-moo) is a beautiful native New Zealand timber with a wonderful honey color and interesting grain.  It is primarily used  for high quality furniture and household items, but is now in scarce supply.  These platters have been made from fallen logs harvested and milled on a family farm in Northland, New Zealand, near where I live.

The native New Zealand Paua ( abalone) fits beautifully with the timber, adding its incredible irridescent shades of blues, greens and pinks, and is practical as well.  Serve crackers on the platter and dip in the shell.

The timber has been sealed with a high quality, nature friendly combination of oils, then polished with natural beeswax.  To care for the timber, occasionally lightly rub with olive oil or natural wood wax.  To wash it, use warm soapy water.  Keep it out of your dishwasher, and you will have it forever.
