The cards have been created by the Save Ngunguru Sandspit group.  This is their mandate:

"We are the guardians of this land.  We stand beside Tangata Whenua and whomever else will come to protect, nurture and celebrate this land.

The owners seek to sell the land to government.  We wait. Encouraging the process. 

We believe that the sandspit needs to be held "in safe hands".  These hands will include our hands, the hands of Tangata Whenua and the hands of government. 

Our primary task until the land is in safe hands is to win and hold hearts and minds - yours, all Northlanders, New Zealanders, and people everywhere who care about pristine coastal environments, wild places where you can just be, where the land meets the sea and our hearts can sing and our minds be clear there".
