These polished paua shells really aren't small.  They are the size one would normally find at the beach.  But they are the smaller of the two polished paua shells we offer.  The length is approximately 11.5cm (4 1/2").

Paua are a type of abalone shell found in New Zealand.  With irridescent shades of blue, green, pink and purple, they are a truly beautiful shell.

Some people keep them as a lovely natural decoration.  Others make them into jewellery, use them as jewellery holders, or wrap them with a soap to make a unique gift.  The paua shell is polished both inside and out.

These paua shells come from Chatham Island, off the South Island east coast.  The paua shell is presented in a lovely blue box.
