In this 8-part New Zealand archaeology series ( as seen on New Zealand's TV One), Simon Dallow takes viewers on a journey back in time to the earliest stages of Maori and Pakeha occupation of New Zealand.

Along the way he debunks myths, solves riddles and sheds new light on our collective beginnings. Dramatic archaeology and interesting computer graphics bring the past alive.  The series includes:
Signs of Tsunami - Did tsunami wreak havoc on Maori settlements hundreds of years ago?

Secrets of the Swamp - the Kohika excavation.  A study of the archaeology of a Maori village dating from about AD 1700, which has been unusually well preserved because of its location in a swamp. Wooden artefacts, fibrework, obsidian, houses, animal and food remains, offer conclusions on the trade, hunting, leisure, and social hierarchy of early Maori.

Mysteries of the Crypt - An excavation to find the final resting place of Prime Minister Michael Joseph Savage - why was he not found in his crypt?

Secrets of the Gunfighter Pa - The Bell Block excavation.

The Missing Miners - The Lawrence Chinese ( gold mining) camp excavation.

Searching for the first Coasters - The Buller River Mouth excavation.

Under Wellington - The Tonks Avenue excavation and Plimmers Ark preservation.

In Search of the Good Keen Whalers - The Te Hoe Whaling Station excavation and Pre-European whaling evidence.

I've watched some of these shows and plan to view the whole DVD as well.  The shows are top-notch - fascinating, and fun to see what is unearthed, and how those items show us how we used to live.  I personally recommend this DVD to all.
